Partners

WEConnect collaborates with a range of global partners to improve market access for women such as The World Bank Group,  The International Trade Centre (the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization), the U.S. State Department, USAID,  BPW International, the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Women Presidents' Organization, Vital Voices La Pietra Coalition, Quantum Leaps, and numerous global and national business support associations and institutions in Canada, China, India, Europe and Latin America.

The International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Global Platform for Action on Sourcing from Women Vendors

The Global Platform for Action on Sourcing from Women Vendors aims to increase the share of corporate, government and institutional procurement secured by women vendors for the ultimate purpose of bringing greater economic benefit to women and their communities.

The initiative is led by the ITC, which is the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, and WEConnect International. 45 multinational corporations have joined the Global Platform with the direct benefit of linkages to women business owners across multiple sectors and countries. Women's organizations including the International Federation of Business and Professional Women have joined to link members to markets.

To join the Platform along with other corporations, women business owners, governments and institutions link to online registration.

The La Pietra Coalition

A Breakthrough Initiative to advance women and the world, launched in Florence, Italy, after a meeting convened by Vital Voices Global Partnership in 2009 of international NGO's and private sector leaders at Villa La Pietra, the Italian campus of New York University.

This coalition was formed out of the belief that 2011-2020 will be The Decisive Decade for Women's Advancement and Economic Opportunity. The Breakthrough Initiative's over-arching goal is to make the case that investing in women leads to stronger economic growth for communities, nations and companies. Collaboration among NGOs, the private sector and government leaders is critical to achieving that goal.

The CEO of WEConnect International is the Co-Chair of the La Pietra Coalition's Entrepreneurship Working Group, along with Accenture. For more information link to La Pietra.

Pathways Access Initiative / Iniciativa Caminos a la Prosperidad

The U.S. Department of State Pathways Access Initiative (PAI) aims to support U.S. corporations seeking supplier diversity and inclusion in Latin America by identifying, training and certifying women owned businesses that qualify as diverse suppliers of goods and services. The State Department and USAID contracted with WEConnect International to implement the PAI.

While supporting U.S. corporations, the long-term objective of the PAI is to increase the access Peruvian women owned businesses have to new markets so that they can compete for contracts and increase their economic productivity. The PAI offers:

  • Corporations access to certified women's business enterprises
  • Education and training for women owned businesses wanting to know what it takes to enter corporate value chains
  • Self-registration and certification for women owned businesses
  • Access to new markets for certified women's business enterprises

For more information link to PAI.

The U.S. Department of State Pathways Access Initiative is one of the many assistance projects supported by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Since 2000, the American people through USAID have provided more than $1 billion in programs that support Peru's democratic institutions, social sector, and economic growth.

Quantum Leaps helped to incubate WEConnect International and continues to play a strategic role in the development of key markets. Connecting Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs with Corporate Markets

In 2010, WEConnect International, the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA), the World BankAccentureGiftlinks and the International Trade Centre launched the first phase of a pilot program focused on poverty alleviation through business opportunities for members of SEWA's Gitanjali Group.

SEWA is a labor union of women workers in the informal sector in India that are generally illiterate and living in poverty. Program partners are working together at a local level to develop the skills of select members of SEWA's Gitanjali's Group of 30,000 waste-pickers to strengthen their recycled paper stationery and office products business.

Do not miss out on the opportunity to support the second phase of this exciting initiative! For more information, please see the brochure or contact info@WEConnectInternational.org.
