According to a recent press release, WEConnect International partner organization National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) has opened the application process for the second annual Best-of-the-Best list of corporations in America committed to diversity and inclusion across all minority communities. Forty companies will receive the exclusive Best-of-the-Best Corporation for Inclusion designation in 2017. In a recent World Economic Forum blog post, "Women worldwide are missing out: This is how we can make economic growth equal for all," President of the International Development and Research Centre (IDRC) Jean Lebel addresses the numerous burdens keeping women in poverty and what will help close gaps in prosperity across the globe.
Jeans first recommendation is to help women register their businesses with organizations like WEConnect International to improve their market access. In early 2015, IDRC awarded a CA$560,000 grant to WEConnect International in support of its project, "Growing Women-Owned Businesses in India by Building on Private Sector Initiatives." The research findings were clear: women who earn WEConnect International certifications generate over CA$170 million annually and employ more than 4,600 people across India.
The Women's President Organization, a WEConnect International partner, has launched the search for the 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies™ sponsored by American Express Global Corporate Payments. 2017 marks the 10th Annual WPO competition to find the 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies. Applicants are not required to be members or to join the organization and will be ranked according to revenue growth from 2012 to 2016.
